Sri Lankan survives after being thrown 30 feet in the air while flying a kite

Nadarasa Manoharan said the incident occurred when members of his team, who were all attending the Thai Pongal festival, let go of the rope of the giant kite before he could realize it.

Sometimes the time spent having fun can turn into horrific experiences. One example is a Sri Lankan man who was lifted 30 feet into the air during a kite-flying event and had to hang on to a rope to survive.

According to Press wire, Nadarasa Manoharan was lifted 30 feet into the air when a strong gust of wind swept over her kite. The horrific incident took place on December 18, during a kite match at Point Pedro in the Jaffna district of Sri Lanka.

In the video footage, Manoharan can be seen hanging onto a jute rope tied to the kite after a strong gust of wind blew away his kite during the match. He held the rope as he was lifted into the air. After a while, he let go of the rope and fell to the ground. The 1.01 minute clip ends with a person rushing to help. Watch the video here:

The video has gone viral since its publication and has received over 25,000 views on YouTube to date.

According to press reports, Manoharan said he was blown away because he did not realize that members of his team behind him let go of the rope attached to the kite.

He added that he hadn’t looked at the ground once when he was in the air and only let go when his hands had become too numb to hold onto.

Fortunately, he suffered minor injuries and was admitted to Point Pedro hospital, as reported by Daily Mirror.

According to Free press journal, The kite is part of Thai Pongal celebrations. Locals make kites in every size imaginable on occasion and fly them with their friends and families.
