Pune motorcyclist injured after glass-covered kite rope cut his neck

Pune: In a shocking incident, a biker was injured after a glass-covered kite rope (manjha) cut his neck on Monday in the Dapodi neighborhood of Pune. The man sustained injuries to his neck and fingers.
The victim was identified as Aashish Suresh Pawar, 32, a resident of Salve Nagar. An FIR was filed Tuesday in this case at the Bhosari police station.
Following the victim’s complaint, a case was registered against unknown persons under section 337 (causing injury by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and the negligence of the Penal Code Indian (IPC).
Police say the kite rope slashed the victim on a road near the CME gate in Bopodi on the old Pune Mumbai highway. The string became tangled in Pawar’s neck when he arrived on site on his motorbike at around 5:45 p.m.
In another incident reported last week in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, a youth was killed after being slaughtered by the string.
The man suffered severe blood loss after being slaughtered by the manjha and succumbed to his injuries in the city’s Modipuram neighborhood.
The victim was identified as Ajay, 24, a resident of Rasulpur village located in the area of Khatoli police station.
The deceased, who had a pharmaceutical company, was returning from Meerut to his village on a motorbike when the string caught his neck on Modipuram Flyover. Ajay fell on the spot with severe loss of blood. Local residents rushed him to hospital where he died during treatment.
