Knives, cannabis and counterfeit money found after police chase car

A motorist and his passenger trying to flee from police were eventually caught after driving into a dead end following a chase. Officers found the couple in Ryton-on-Dunsmore on Saturday afternoon (June 11).

Police say the two occupants of the Jaguar E Pace were arrested on St Leonards Walk. Officers quickly arrested the driver and front passenger who were found in possession of lockable knives, cannabis and counterfeit notes.

Cops say the driver also failed a roadside drug test and was later arrested. Police recovered the vehicle and the two occupants are still in custody.

It comes after officers found another vehicle breaking the law in Ryton-on-Dunsmore. On Friday June 10, police intercepted a Toyota Yaris on the A423 Oxford Road.

Cops discovered the driver was making take-out deliveries without valid insurance, but also found a set of nunchucks inside the vehicle. Police say the driver also failed a positive roadside drug test for cannabis, which led to his arrest.

Officers confirmed the suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, driving without insurance and failing a roadside drug test. After the driver was arrested, the vehicle was seized by officers.
