  • National, December 22, 2021 – KITES Senior Care, the Bangalore-based geriatric care brand, today announced plans for expansion in southern India. This comes after its proven success in its pilot projects to provide high quality geriatric care to the elderly, both in their respite care facilities and in the retirement home.

Of India’s 1.3 billion people, around 11 million people are over 65 years of age. This number is estimated to reach 24 crore by 2040, making elderly care an essential service the country needs to care for its aging population. The geriatric care market in India is estimated to be over US $ 5 billion.

KITES Senior Care specializes in the care of the elderly and offers transitional care, palliative care and dementia care outside of supervised nursing care. Currently, the company currently has three dedicated facilities with 90 beds under their management and a significant home care presence to complement residential care. As part of this expansion plan, they plan to reach 500 beds. They also introduced integrated Ayurveda-based treatments to complete the healing process under the strict supervision of doctors. They have cared for more than 3,500 elderly people since its inception.

KITES is now looking to expand its presence in South India (deepening its presence in Bangalore by adding more centers and targeting Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Cochin for expansion) while strengthening its leadership team. and its imprint in Bengaluru.

Dr Reema N, Director and COO, said: “We launched KITES Senior Care with the vision to be the trusted partner in the continuum of hospital care for the elderly and their families. We are seeing increased awareness among children who opt for specialist care for their parents / grandparents. About 60% of the elderly people we care for, their children live in India and Bengaluru, dispelling the myth that elderly people who live alone need such care.

Rajagopal G, Co-Founder of KITES Senior Care, said: “Each of our lines of business is profitable, even at the optimal price we adopt. We have started our discussions with a few large insurers to encourage them to recognize these innovative new age models that would ultimately reduce the value of their claims and deliver better outcomes, thereby reducing readmissions as well.

Rajagopal G added: “Being a specialized field, we wish to invest in continuous research which will improve the value of offers. We have partnered with a reputable technology organization to introduce technology-based care that is being tested. Our model has the potential to generate over $ 15 million in revenue for us, with significant revenue through a presence in four cities, which we envision as part of the growth story at to achieve.

KITES Senior Care has received ‘Pre-Series A’ funding of Rs. 4 crore and plans to raise Series A capital to fund its expansion plans. Earlier this year, the company announced a partnership with Scottish healthcare technology company CogniHealth to deliver digital solutions to improve the lives of people living with and caring for dementia patients.
