IDF troops arrest 3 Gazans who tried to infiltrate through Israel’s border fence
Three Palestinians were arrested by IDF soldiers after trying to infiltrate southern Israel on Saturday morning, the military said.
The suspects were carrying knives and bolt cutters to pierce the fence when they were captured near the northern part of the border, according to the IDF.
It was not clarified whether the three men had completely crossed the fence at the time of their capture.
The suspects were arrested and taken for questioning.
While Israel has a series of high-tech fences and walls guarding its border with Gaza, both above and below ground, a number of gaps remain in the steel fences surrounding the Strip.
These breaches were used by Palestinians from Gaza to enter Israeli territory illegally, often in the hope of fleeing the besieged enclave.
While attacks on Israeli civilians by those infiltrating from Gaza are rare, in May, a Palestinian, who entered Israel armed with several knives, attacked and slightly injured a security guard about three miles from the city. border barrier.
