Hunter Tapp posts 1:57,200 back to Greensboro Cups; Winners of the five Speedo section meetings

The first Speedo Sectionals meetup group wrapped up on Sunday evening at five venues across the country. Meetings take place in Austin, Texas; Fullerton, California; Geneva, Ohio; Greensboro, North Carolina and Roseville, California. Several swimmers went on to have impressive weekends of performances, but the most impressive swim came from NC State’s Tapp Hunter. Tapp was fourth in the 200 backstroke at the US Olympic Trials last month in 1: 56.76, and soared to victory Sunday at the Greensboro sectional meeting in 1: 57.57. Tapp had previously won the 100 back in Greensboro in 53.85.

In Geneva, Semuede Andreis swam a solid 49.46 to win the men’s 100 freestyle. Andreis has already won the 50 and 100 butterfly in this competition. Catherine berkoff, another NC State star, took victory in the 100 freestyle in Greensboro in 55.23 after taking top honors in the 50 freestyle and 100 in the previous three days.

In Austin, Keaton jones won her fourth event of the weekend in the 200 IM (2: 05.13) after previously winning first place in the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke, and Ben Dillard won the 200 IM at Fullerton (2: 07.43) after winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke earlier in the weekend. Roseville’s meeting saw both Kayla han (200 IM, 2: 18.91) and Ashlyn Fiorilli (800 free, 9: 03.11) become double winners on weekends.
